About the Friends of Brooklyn Heights Branch Library, Inc

Friends of Brooklyn Heights Branch Library, Inc was founded in 1993 to support the programming at our beloved Brooklyn Heights Branch. As the needs of the Branch have evolved and grown throughout the life of our library, the Friends have been proud to meet those needs with financial and volunteer support. Over the years, support from the Friends has allowed the Branch to host world renowned authors for readings, teach children about problem solving and concentration through our chess program, launch a practical writing clinic for adults, and much, much more.

The Friends of the Brooklyn Heights Branch Library are proud of the role we have played in the creation of this vibrant community space. As our mission statement declares, we “believe that the use and enjoyment of the Brooklyn Heights Branch Library is important to the members of our community” and we look forward to continuing our active role in support of our neighborhood library.

Now having just celebrated our 30th anniversary, there’s a new excitement to our work. Our stunning new branch on Cadman Plaza West is the largest and, in our admittedly biased opinion, most beautiful Branch Library in the Brooklyn Public Library system. After years of limited programming and events, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are delighted to once again help our local branch foster a sense of community at the library!
